FEMA Hurricane Ike News Briefing 9-16-2008


FEMA executives speak to the media and to the nation about the status of Hurricane Ike and the US Governments' role in recovery efforts.

Our sources at the street level say many are missing and they are concerned about their neighbors, friends and family. "I am hopeful but I expect we are going to have some uncomfortable surprises once the water and debris are cleared."

Local sources called to report the latest update.

US agency officials have announced they plan to go public with their release of information about damage estimates and other Hurricane Ike related topics.

The news briefing is scheduled for 2:30 pm EST and the agency heads will speak to reporters at the FEMA headquarters in D.C.

Our sources state there have been casualties, however they would not make any statements until officials have provided more information regarding their findings.

We're monitoring cable news and others to keep abreast of the advancing storm. There are no reports of tornados at this time, however, local sources reported hearing rumors that there may have been a couple areas outside of Houston that were affected by tornados.

According to the latest reports a massive Hurricane Ike has left much of southeast Texas battered from the coastal areas to deeply interior areas.

It is because of the population density that early reports indicate the potential for a high level of injuries and deaths. These fears are fueled by reports that residents decided too late to follow orders to evacuate. Now they must hope for rescuers to be able to find them.
